    Morning all, im a new member here.

    Ive been looking at an Audi A4 Advant TDI as a new car to the Clio 182 that i own, due to the family expanding.

    We have been looking for A4's from eBay, Autotrader, Car Supermarkets etc, and we have come across a dilema.

    How can we tell the difference between the 115bhp & the 130bhp engine cars.

    We have this example here..

    This car is listed on eBay with no bhp listed. We contacted them, they said it was a 130bhp. We they looked on auto trader, and its said to be a 100bhp car.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190162697490&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=009

    How can we / I tell the difference when we go to view / test drive the car.

    What are the key signs.?

    The only certain way to check is to look at the sticker in the spare wheel well in the boot. This lists the spec of the car at time of production and will show the power output of the engine in kW. It's all in German but easy enough to spot
    130bhp model will be 96kW
    100bhp = 73kW
    the same info should be on a sticker on the inside of the front cover of the service manual.
    All the other signs are cosmetic like the 130 model should have a red "i" on the TDi badge, but this is not consistent and is easily changed.

    You could also check the 3-letter engine code.
