Guys,

My front caliper appears to be un-serviceable.

Eurocarparts is bringing up 4 different calipers. Two is 54mm piston and two are 57mm piston. One is for 1LB brakes. ( need to check pr sticker in boot)

I've measured my piston with a tape measure and it's a 54mm piston.

GSF only lists one front caliper for my reg and that too is a 57mm piston. There are no part numbers on original caliper due to rust.

I know my car is on a changeover year for some parts. Finding the rear shocks were a nightmare!

Can any one help with etka?

I can supply my chassis number to those who need it?

Cheers.

Dan

does it have 288/25mm disks like the 1.8T's? if so its a 57mm piston.

Post up a photo of the caliper, the 288 calipers are fairly distinctive.

PR code 1LB.

yeh they are 1.8T calipers, and will have 57mm pistons.

1LB is also 288/25 so again 57mm.

i might have a spare caliper or two if you want a used set.

If your buying a caliper new, you'll know its correct if it has the crescent shaped cutout in the front of it, and the two holes for the wire retainer thingy. It will also have 57 cast into the back of it.

How soon could you ship a caliper and at what cost? Ready to use it assume?

Rather use 2nd hand as not sure how long the car will last for. Lol.

Might be able to get it to you for tuesday if i used a next day courier? With it being the weekend its not going to go anywhere until monday. And infact, isnt monday a bank holiday?

Sorted now, cheers Kev.

Found one on a Passat that still has the re-manufactured stickers on it! It's like brand new. £20 so was a bit of a bargain for a genuine caliper.

Just need time to fit this one and one on the rear that I also have.
