Picked up a stone chip that is to bad to repair apparently and need a new windscreen.
Insurance company say they won't fit an Audi windscreen but will be like for like. I had a million questions on the colour of it I have the comfort pack which comes with the acoustic glass what is this though?

    Any help appreciated

They would have to fit the same type of windscreen that comes with Comfort Pack. Which probably means they will have to fit a windscreen that is supplied by Audi or from the company that supplies Audi. Tell them that it is a special screen that is not fitted as standard but comes as part of an option. Also tell them the part number that is on the windscreen.

If you have the rain sensing wipers make sure they put a brand new gel pack in with the new screen otherwise it messes it up

Hmm, just made me wonder, is the Comfort pack something you should declare to your insurer as an addition to the standard car? If you do not then is the, presumably more expensive, windscreen not covered per the small print on the policy?

Will be interested to hear outcome

That would depend on the exact questions asked by the insurer at inception, generally speaking factory fitted options do not need to be declared. If any doubt speak to your insurer.

as a reference when someone smashed my door window on my 8P audi, they replaced it for a like for like.

what they did was replaced it from the same manufacture but just without the Audi logo. So it was from the same company who supplied it to audi.

With the Comfort Pack your windscreen should also have a sunband across the top - make sure your replacement has as well

Same happened to me, two weeks old and bang!

Explained to Autoglass when booking that the car was brand new A3 model with Comfort pack fitted, first fitter arrived with wrong screen (no grey band/acoustic glass), all worked out well in the end, genuine Audi screen with Audi logo ordered and fitted by Autoglass, nice tidy job.

However, interested in the 'gelpack' comments above, the day after fitting I noticed a blob of gel seeping from the rear of the rain sensor fitting that had also dripped onto the cupholder/ashtray, I just presumed it was from the fitting process and just wiped it off. Might take a closer look later!

    Thanks for that _Zerocool_.

Will have a good look at the sensor (both inside and out) later and also keep an eye on how it performs in rain.
