Hi All,

How easy is it to chnage the oil on a 225tt? Bearing in mind I have never attempted anythig like this before! Is there aguide anywhere or any advice greatly appreciated.

Are either of these oil's ok to use Mobil 1 (0-40) or Castrol SLX. And where can i get it for the best price for the change (assume i need 5 Ltr's) please?

Also mileage is just under 70k at the moment and I belive the cambelt and tensioners will need doing soon (2001 on a Y). What's a guide price to get this done at an independent specialist?

many thanks for any help!

hi . i have a 225ttr xreg with 67000 miles, having cam belt ,waterpump, etc. fitted on mon 15th at audi chesterfield 4 £383 . independant quoted me £450. hope this helps

thanks libby. Anyone experience of changing there own oil or recommend grade please?

Hi, The cam belt on the TT 225 does not need changing until its covered 115k. I recently got told this when I had my 225 serviced at heritage audi Salisbury

O yeah, the best oil to use is definately Castrol SLX

mikejervism you must change cambelt on any car at 70-75k miles second one is due at 115k miles, you must have had the first one done already.

thanks. I will confirm that again with Audi mate. Mines only covered 40k, so not needed just yet.

I contacted Heritage Audi in Salisbury again this week. They have confirmed that on the Audi TT models from year 2000 the first cambelt change is at the 115k point. Audi TT's before this year, the belt should be replaced at the 80k point.

strange, it is a general rule to change 80k with all cars, maybe phone round, try awesome-gti or amd they're very good, if i were you i wouldn't want to risk it snapping and the engine dying when you get to 80k
