2.5TDI Glow plugs

Afternoon all,

I have a '99 2.5TDI. All works okay apart from on cooler mornings, it stutters a bit when starting, before running smoothly. I suspect that one or two glowplugs may be on the way out, but I don't want to buy a complete set of 6. Anyone know how I can test the glowplugs (impedance test using a multimeter, for example)?

With the ignition off disconnect each of the the plug leads in turn and test for continuity between the +ve terminal of the battery and the +ve of each plug. The plugs normally only come on below 8 degC btw.

or what i normally do, remove each plug in turn, run a piece of wire from each terminal of the battery and touch against the relevent part of the glow plug and see which one doesnt glow up quick enough (ie almost instantly).
