2.0t fsi fuel pump follower fault replacement

    Was looking through the forums and read about the follower fault so because i dont have alot of history bout the car and it coming upto 94 k thought i best change it for the sake of £24. Only took me about an hour easy enough todo and well glad i have done it ready for the mods.

    Great stuff!, i'm gonna do mine soon along with the cam belt and water pump

    would defo do yours with a uprated fuel pump such an easy job and £24 from tps bargin.

    It not the worst one i seen but yer glad i caught it when i did because i have been told it like £600 for a recon pump and bout £900 for a cam.

    yep very costly to replace and the pumps never been 600 recon
    last pump i got from audi new not recon was 220 ish

    It may be worth describing how you went about changing the follower, tool required etc for the benifit of other forum members.

    Same link i looked at before i had a go like i say easy a monkey could do it. And i was looking at apr uprated fuel pump for £600 sorry thought mite aswell uprate it if it nackered up.

    I can hardly see what's wrong with the one he removed in that pdf. Do they wear through? If he thinks it would be dead at 60k miles, am I on borrowed time with it having done 64k?

    they can go at 20 30 40k its worth checking every now and again mine gets checked every 5k
    but for what they cost to buy its its worth changeing it when you check

    I know this post is quite old, but could anyone tell me where you can get hold of one of these replacement followers for the FSi pump.

    It might be as easy as the Audi Parts desk, but I've got a missing engine at about 5500 rpm on hard accelleration, and I need a solution

    Phoned Audi's parts dept, they don't sell any internal parts. They sell all the add on bits , sensors and the like. They said I would have to buy a full pump, which would cost £177.77 inc VAT. Now I didn't think that was unreasonable , but this is Audi in Warrington we're talking about and they can be a bit special.
    So unless anyone could suggest any where I might be able to locate a FSi fuel pump follower, I'm buying the whole pump.

    if you buy the new pump it dont come with a follower anyway
    your deales is talking **** they do sell them call them back

    I can tell you now your dealer is talking poo poo, bought a follower and seal for mine from maidstone audi last saturday, cost me £35 in total including VAT, all I did was give them the part numbers, they ordered them in, job done:

    06D 109 309 C - Cam follower
    06E 127 248 - Seal

    Give them those numbers and they won't even need a reg from your car or anything, oh and they do sell internal parts, from the smallest spring to a complete engine, all you need is the part number.

    yes once and all was well
    but for what it costs it may save you down the line
    reason i didnt change it was
    sunday afternoon needed car monday morning and i lost the seal
    found it monday in my pocket

    Just replaced mine and used the old seal, also, 70,000 miles in and the old one still looked rather good, only the slightest hint of wear to the black coating on the top surface, and a slight wear ridge around the side. I used the old seal when I put the pump back in, as the seal I got from the dealer was a different colour, and also appeared to be slightly smaller in thickness. The old seal was still plump and well shaped, and had good softness, so with a bit of vaseline I wasn't overly worried about using the old seal.

    Glad I've done it as it was playing on my mind somewhat with not knowing the state of the old follower, now I just want a Milltek, an APR pump and a nice map :laugh:

    I don't think I have all the tools required. However if I got the parts and got a garage to do it for me... how much should it cost or how long does it take?

    depends how much they charge for labour

    One thing I would point out, unlike in the guide posted above, mine didn't have a banjo fitting for the low pressure fuel line, instead I had flexible pipe clipped to hose barbs, which meant I didn't need a 12 sided torx bit to get the job done, infact I only really needed a 10mm, 13mm and 17mm spanner, a T30 torx bit, ratchet, extension bar and a few screwdrivers to undo clips, was very simple to do.
