is this because the fsi technology is the same one used in diesel engines and fuel is dumped directly into the combustion chamber? i remember talking to a head tech at jaguar a few months back and he said that audi could not get fsi to work properly in the UK so did a half-a** job of it... i remember this sound with a 2001 VW Polo at 60k miles and it was a tappet/valve lifter noise... what Ive noticed.. - COLD START: Morning start up, slightly noisy and not as noisy as a diesel but picking up the revs and it quietens down - HOT START: Start up after a long journey, 100 mile journey 80mph... stop off at services or at destination, start it up... and its loud at idle (almost like the oil is just not making it to the top of the engine). is this just the nature of the beast? ive never noticed this over the last 65k miles so why now!!!!!!
