I have a 2.0 TFSI 211hp as my miles don't warrant a diesel. Realistic figures I achieve are as follows,

    Town driving low 30's

Motorway driving cruise set to 70- low to mid 40's. Driven over 70 and high 30's.

Mine is FWD so expect quattros to be slightly less.

Check for oil consumption issues on early petrol 08-10 B8's. Full audi history will go in your favour should a rebuild be required as in my case. Car is faultless now.

Hi thanks for your quick response :)

Do you know if it's only up to 10 reg cars affected by the oil issue? Any idea if the 1.8 is similar on fuel?

Deep down I feel the petrol would be a better option for me but had diesels for yrs now and am always drawn to them!!

Think I'll need to get the calculator out and work out the fuel diff!! :)

I have just moved into an 09 plate A4 2.0 Tfsi, last 7 Audi's were all diesels, just completed a 700 mile trip 75% motorway (80 miles of ave speed cams at 50/40mph) 25% town, a wee bit of heavy right foot thrown in for a bit of fun, ave mpg 38.77.

I can't say for sure it stopped on the 2010 models but issues I've heard about on here and other research I've done on forums suggests audi fixed the issue. Mine is 2009 model.

I don't have any experience with the 1.8 so can't comment unfortunately. I picked the 2.0t as it has good torque figures similar to the 2.0tdi. The b8 is quite a heavy car. I rarely find I'm in the wrong gear for situations found on the roads. Always have good power available.

Petrol is generally less than diesel in both raw material and cars value too. I do run mine on 99 octane from habit so I do pay closer to diesel prices per tank.

Best advice would be to try and test drive each and see what suits you and your driving style. Both diesel and petrols I've driven are well refined so IMO like mentioned go with what your happy with.

A4B8Sline MPG are realistic, very similar to mine. With the low mileage you are best off having a petrol.
I have had 38 Mpg from cold 10 mile trip half motorway half 30 mph roads driving normally, not slow not fast.
I also run mine on 99 Shell V Power which improves fuel slightly and it runs slightly better too.
And if you are interested in modding then the 2.0TFSI 211 has fantastic potential with Revo.
