    Hello Guys,

Bought my 2009 8p3 back in April and a few months ago started to notice an issue starting when warm. Basically after a long run 40-50 miles+ so oil etc is fully warmed I park up, go shopping or fill up, come back out and it wont start! It turns over once even if I hold key on stage 3 it just doesn't do anything. It can then take a further 5-10 goes to start up, it is as if it is not catching.
This only happens when engine is warm, starts first time on a morning. I have taken it into Leeds Audi under warranty and after 1 week of having it, they cant see any fault codes and are trying to fob me off with a new battery?? I have videos that I have shown them and despite them being the dealer they don't seem to have a clue...

This is very embarrassing as I am sure you can imagine, the car only has 60k so would have thought the battery would be in order, more likely to be something else they just don't seem bothered.
Any suggestions or pointers would be really helpful, I am going to ring round a few indies tomorrow and run it by them, they can probably tell me straight away!!

To really rub salt into the wound the courtesy car I they have given me is a TT TFSI!
    Cheers!

possibly your coolant temp sensor ,you could request some one graph it wit vcds and see what it's hot reading is I can't see it being the battery if it only happens with a hot engine that said it wouldn't do any harm to have the battery tested or when it won't start connect to another car as if jump starting obviously not at a filling station though !

oh also cam and crank sensor can play up with heat.

think its the starter motor, i do believe its a common problem not to work on hot startup. This is only what iv read from these forums and i think i remember seeing it. but im sure someone will correct me xD

It would seem to be the good old hot start, starter motor issue, but rare to see it in a later 09 car.

Thanks a lot for the replies guys, I was going to say I was struggling to find it on cars as new as mine when I was searching. Gonna ring Leeds Audi and have a little chat! Cheers

On older TDI's (PDs) this is a known issue.
To fix this problem there is a remap that should be available at any dealer or tuner. Also the battery and starter motor should be checked.
I've had this problem with my car too. I've done all 3 thing. Started with the battery than remap and eventually the starter motor.
    No more problems now.

Although, as mjr901 said, this is common to the older PD engines. You are the first I read about having this problem.
