V6 PWR - 3.0 Quattro

I scan my A6 today and this error comes under enigne faults - p0597. There is no CEL and car drives fine. What could be the cause of it? Also can this be the cause of poor fuel consumption.

Can anyone shed some light how to resolve it as it's keep coming back after clearing it.

Quick google suggests its to do with the thermostat control

If that is stuck open then the car will throw the fuel in as it thinks its cold and thus could be the reason for your poor fuel consumption

Or one of the temp sensors is kaput

Does your coolant gauge reach and stay at 90??

The fact it's electrical and you can't clear it would point to a sensor rather than the thermostat

Yeah temperature sits at 90 when car is fully warm. I need to check sensor I guess

As I mentioned earlier, temperature sits on 90 and there is no CEL on dash. I am guessing it could be sensor on EGR that could be faulty. Any suggestions?

Got the part today, thanks to Mike from Wocester Seat for sorting it so quickly with discounted price. Car is booked for the fitting tomorrow. Fingers crossed it should clear the fault code and imporve fuel efficiency.

Got oil filter housing replaced and F265 is gone. Let's see how much miles can I get now out of full tank.

Very nice results did MSL do the tune?

No, I only went there to use dyno and quite frankly the way they initially did the run. I won't let them touch my car for any work.

After the run, they even didn't bothered to clear the faults. What if I didn't have the VCDS, imagine driving around with fault code on dash or have to go somewhere and pay extra to clear them

Yikes doesn't sound good, surely removing faults which enevitably come with dynoing is standard practice. Who did your tuning then?

While driving behind traffic I noticed today my headlights keep going up and down. Like auto adjusting. What could be the cause of it ?

Too be honest I feel my lights are always too low, they are bright but don't light up enough of the road ahead. Ive not driven it in completely dark places yet to see if it rises and turns full beams on as its adaptive lights.

Is there a way to raise or lower the beams?

Pass!

Any codes in VCDS? Not sure if you can do an output test??

I assume this is new and it's not always done it?? i.e. You don't have adaptive headlights??
Mine are not adaptive lights as far as I know. No fault in vcds

Mine are similar too low on road. I think we need to activate setting in vcds before adjusting headlights and than save through it.

With 333bhp I'm in need of better stopping power.

What's the biggest discs I can get with standard setup?

Looking at eurocarparts (30% promotion) I got few different sizes to choose from

320 or 356 front?

300 or 330 0r 356 rear?

Not looked but do the biTDI have bigger discs than normal? as even with 370bhp the brakes have great stopping power and are so sharp, sometimes too sharp that even I startle myself haha
