My excellent local air conditioning specialist in Worthing has just diagnosed a fault with the AC cooling fan on my 1999 A6 2.5 TDI. The AC works fine but only effectively when the car is moving. This is because the auxilliary fan isn't spinning when the AC is on so the condenser gets hot and the compressor has to work extra hard to pump the gas around the over-heated system.
Anybody got any experience of these fans? Can anybody suggest a likely cause before I start wasting time dismantling half the front of the car to get it out and begin a diagnosis?
Would appreciate any advice.
