1997 A4 2.6 key question

Hello All!
I have just bought the Above car and it came with just one key
and no plip for the doors/Alarm?
The key has a little torch in it
Did this car when it was bought new have an Alarm/Door Plip Key
and if so was it a 2 button or 3

No 2,6L models came with remote central locking, as they were phased out before the twin-button key fob was introduced.

Thanks so i will just need a standard key as a spare?

Yes, and they'll need to be coded to the car too.
