1996 1.8T FWD sport gearbox noise

ok can someone help me when i pull off in first the gearbox sounds really bad like a chainsaw but all over gears are ok.

is it the end for my box could i get it fixed or should i be looking now for a new box say like from a breakers or ebay.

also would a 6 speed box fit and is the clutch the same size.


im in the nortwest area so if anyone knows any good places to go that would be a great help

sounds like bearings,so either a rebuild or replacement seems the options available mate !!

would any good gearbox centre do this job or would i have to go to the main dealer

also would a six speed box fit?
