    Hi,

I'm just weighing up options here, and as always I'm on a budget.

I have 15" pepper-pots which will soon need some new rubber, Current tyre size is 195/65 R15.

I was always fond of the Yokohama parade spec2 as I've had them on previous cars and wanted to purchase the same for the A3.
The yokohama's are 195/50 R15's and don't seem to come in any other form for a 15" wheel.

Am I being ridiculous in asking whether I could getaway with fitting the Paradas on the Pepperpots? I know they'll physically fit, but to what effects?

Your speedo will read slightly faster than your actual speed, but other than that it'll be 'reet!

In terms of diameter, how much smaller will the Paradas be? Is this a substantial change in size or am I over thinking this?
I guess this will also have a knock on effect with the mpg being less.
I think I would welcome the speedo to be a little bit ahead.

It is really quite a big change, more so than I'd be happy with personally.

My Scirocco runs 195/50R15's with a 1.8t Audi A3 gearbox, and the gearing's pretty low, it's sat at 3.5k at 70 which does hurt the economy and get a bit boring on long runs. I'm on the look out for a diesel box to correct this, but that's because my car/arches won't fit larger tyres. I can't comment on the speedo error as mine's corrected for the wheels, but the theory's sound that it'll be 10% out.

In your shoes I'd just stick to the correct sized tyres (and I'm no originality obsessive!). There's plenty of tyres out there as good as the Pradas, they're a decent enough tyre, but there are other choices that match their performance easily enough. As well as the speedo issue, you'll also loose 30mm of ground clearance and the car will look really odd with a massive gap in the wheel arch.
