My mate bought a set of 19" stock S5 wheels without considering they might not fit his A4 B7.
The wheels are fitted with 255/35-19 tires and are supposedly 19x8.5 ET32.

Do you reckon it might work if he changes the tires to, say, 235/35-19?

i have just fitted 19,s on my avant
fronts are 235/35/19 8.5 et38
rears are 255/30/19 9.5 et40
i,m lowered on eibach 50/40
no issues at all in fact still got a little room

If they are S5 wheels, does that mean they are from a B8 platform car?

If so, then I think they will have a different hub diameter, which would require some form of adapter ring.

Could be wrong, though.

They are from the B8 platform yeah, so I will need to get an adapter ring for them.

I am mostly concerned with the width. It would be quite terrible to buy new tires only to find out that they still do not fit :)

i've got some a5 17"s on my a6 and the offset brings them right out even with 225's, its gonna be even tighter with 19"+a4+235s

have you tried a wheel on the car to see how much they stick out?

and yes you will need spigot rings

They should be o.k

Being a S5 the ofsett sounds right - 255 on a A4 might rub if lowered. 235/35/19 will work on a ET32

I have fitted 19's (ET48 8.5j) from A6 Le Mans Edition to my B7. The original tyre sizes were 255/35/19 which had rubbing on the front so needed 10mm spacers (already had 15mm spacers on the rear so can't comment there) till I got new tyres. New tyres are 235/35/19 fronts cleared without spacers then but scraped on full lock. Fitted 5mm spacers and no problems now.

Current setup:

Front - 235/35/19 8.5j ET43
Rear - 235/35/19 8.5j ET33

Thanks for your replies so far.
I think I'll see if we can try the wheels on the car during easter time.
