Hmmm....I need help making a decision.

What would you choose between 18" wheels, and 19's ?...and what difference would 19's make to my car, ie. ride height, comfort, etc ?

    Thanks in advance

Is your car lowered??? Are you planning on lowering??

IMO, A3s on 19 without a decent amount of lowering look like moonbuggies.

But then you've got the potential issues with rubbing, which someone will come along and give you all the indepth avoidance details about shortly, because I haven't got a clue. Something about removing a nut from the wheel arch but that's about as far as my limited knowledge stretches.

The car's not lowered YET!..hehe It's an S-Line sportback; so running on stock S-Line suspension at the moment; but I would be planning on lowering it in the future (only a touch though - about an extra 10mm'ish) - I'm just a little concerned that 19's may end up making the car look more like a roller-skate

it will only look bad if you dont lower it, have a quick look at the last page of the rims sticky, there is a black SB on 19's and it looks fantastic! just expect a tiny bit more bump and thump due to the decreased side wall height

I have also heard of removing this nut and think i will have to remove this when i get my 19's on. Has anyone got any picture of this?

Bugger - that does look amazing. I say bugger as I was hoping to save money by buying 18's...lol

Any idea what the difference would be in the 'top of the tyre to wheel arch gap' on standard S-Line springs (compared to what I'm running now - 18's) ?

with the bentleys as they are massive youll have to lol
if you look at the inside of your rear wheel arch, where the rear 3/4 panel meets the bumper, just on the inside you can see and feel a screw, thats the one you have to whip out, a 30 second job when your changing your wheels

If you look under your rear arch, you will see the screw, its easy to find

Sorry to hijack the thread but how 'Uncomfortable' are the 19's? I love the way they look but I don't want to 'Break my back' just for good looks... (probably explains the trouble I have with high maintenance ladies :lmfao:)

its all down to the size of the tyre not the wheel size lol

    Take this cab for example.

19x9 all round running a 215/35/19, which is pretty mega stretch, its set on full hardness on V-Maxx coilovers, and yet its one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven

    19s will ruin the following:

ride comfort (massive reduction in tyre side wall size will have a big affect)
handling (bigger, heavier wheels stuck on the end of the suspension have a massive affect, and minor changes in contact patch centre line affects scrub radius, having a big affect on how well the spring/damper pushes the wheel into the road)
wallet (tyres are fooking expensive at the best of times, let alone 19" rubber bands)
your appearance to everyone else in the world (lets face it, big wheels has been done, and its surely not cool any more.)

having just read everyone else's replies, I think I might be on the wrong forum, you all seem to be woefully uninformed on how a car actually works, so I'll sign off thanks.

Ive always had 18's, got some 19's on now - hardly any difference in feel, just looks better and can go round corners quicker!

I do like 19's, but I actually prefer having 18's and getting the car sitting sightly lower to the floor for looks purposes if that makes sense!
