Currently got the standard OEM 16's on my 2001 A3 1.8T Sport. Not really bothered about lowering it but looking for bigger wheels. Like the Audi 12 spoke A8 style, but also split rim black mesh and wondering whether 18's would look too big/car too high and whether there would be any noticable ride difference? would 17's look significantly better than current 16's?
Black rims on blue car??? would it just look knobbish?
Equally how easy and cheap is it to lower the suspension and is it worth it? what are coilovers?

any suggestions helpful!

Antracite/Grey rims would look pretty nice imo.

Cant advise on size, havent upgraded myself yet but I'm most probably going for 18's, cant imagine 17's would fill the arches anywhere near enough unless it was lowered to the deck.

18's for looks, 17's for ride, 18's for cornering, 17's for less skittish handling on B roads, etc. etc. etc. there's loads of pro's and cons.

cheers for your help guys....looks like i'm going 18's shopping at the weekend!

any thoughts on colours? think black wheels work well with silver or black cars but not seen many on blue...would it look champion chavish?!

I really think dark grey mettalic rims would set the blue off nicely! complete black might look a little odd.
