Fitted some H&R spacers today which i got with the group buy with DPM.

Came with bolts but had to buy McGard locking bolts as i needed longer ones.

Fitting was a 10min job, result is a better looking rear end!

Does make the car look higher up at the back though!

Drove it around and there is no scrubbing, not had people in the back yet though!

that looks so much better Robin! What do you have on the front?

Do you have any pics of the full rear of the car? I'd be interested to see how far out the wheels look.

Thinking about doing this now myself - probably only 10mm all round, although the 15mm rears don't look too bad. Does the rubbing only affect cars lowered more than yours?

    Good work Robin.

Got mine today too, 10mm front 12mm rear. Will be fitting mine tomorrow along with painting my calipers.

    Photo's to follow.

I have got some piccies of the back but you can't see a difference due to the photo angle, i'll have to do some more tomorrow.

I don't have any spacers on the front, i can't see a need for them really as the wheels sit nicely in the arches.

I think alot of the things about scrubbing on 15mm's is due to the tyre people run, some tyres will sit differently to others which may increase the chances of scrubbing.

Its an interesting low cost mod this. Been chewing it over.

How does it affect the drive/handling/grip?

And what about strain on the drive shafts/suspension components?

Any reported premature failure warranty issues and what do the dealers
    say?

    Cheers
    Paul

Higher? That's strange, it made my car look like it's been lowered at the back.

I even asked my girlfriend if she noticed anything different to my car and she thought I had lowered it also.

Staz did you put spacers at front too?
When did you manage to get round to putting them on... I know we spoke and you were interested in buying.

I have a few questions regarding spacers. It's something I've never considered or thought that the car needed.

What difference does it make to the car other than the obvious visual appearance?

If it makes a positive difference to the car's handling why don't Audi space the wheels like this in the first place?

thanks mate, so i assume this is now the same as having ET39 on the back? I only ask coz ive just bought some new show rims which are ET44. It looks like in that pic theres still some room before its level to the rear arch??

The main difference is visually, handling wise there will be a difference due to the extra track but nothing that will be noticed.

Mikey i don't know what the ET of the wheels are, they are OEM wheels

Robin, is there still some room between the edge of the arch to the end of your wheel on the rears? it looks like it in those pics. Ive bought some rims today that are ET44 and was thinking of putting some 5mm spacers on the back only. If your rims are ET54 fitting 15mm spacers on the back would basically now be making them ET39.

but as the arch doesnt go straight up inside edge it curves inwards sideways towards the tyre, when he goes over bumps it will rub, I had normal suspension & it rubbed but that was 16mm, 14mm will be perfect fit I reckon, but I'm still looking into how to pull the wings out a bit without cut & weld, but as the wings have a lip inside that is rounded of it is almost impossble to roll them out more, I'd friendly bet his still rub at some stage

Mikey you will be fine with that set up i reckon although alot does depend on what make of tyre you are running.

I would get the alloys on first and then decide afterwards if 5mm spacers are needed.

Mike my cars about the same height as yours and i have a bit of room with my spacers on so you should be fine.
As Robin says put your alloys on and see if the 5mm will be ok.

Thanks for posting these photos Robin, i've been waiting to see how you found the 15's on the rear. I haven't fitted mine yet and was a bit concerned about any rubbing.... But apparently all is fine!

Well mines 5mm lower than the standard S-Line and i have no problems as the gap between the tyre and the arch is MASSIVE!

Sorry for the late reply mate. I went to the TT shop about 2 days after we spoke. I figured i was going to buy them eventually anyway so I might as well get them while I was in Bedford.

Put 10s on the front yep :)
