    Righto,

Been informed by my mechanic that my front pads and discs will need changing soon so just wondered if callipers, discs and pads from an s3 or golf gti etc would fit and what I would exactly need? Do I need calliper mounting brackets etc.

    Any info be great!

    Thanks

You need calipers, carriers, discs, pads and hoses. Get them from the 3.2 A3, MK5 R32 or the S3 8P, all share the same 345mm discs.

A lot of people go for the 312mm upgrade. I believe all you need is carriers, discs and pads

I did this on mine when I had it. Cost a few hundred quid all in but was definitely made a difference! Got some EBC disks at the same time and braking was 100% better!

    Interesting thanks for the repies.

So the 312 upgrade are from what model? That seems like an easier/cheaper option anyway and would still be an improvement over stock brakes (never had a problem with them jut thought if they need replacing might as well go slightly better....)

    Thanks again.

the 312mm brakes are from the Golf GTI or the A3 2.0 TDi 170

A3 2.0T etc uses 312's also, as do various other VAG's.
    Plenty to choose from.

The 312mm and 345mm are the 2 cheapest brake upgrades for the A3, when you are start hitting 4 pot brakes etc, then it starts getting costly....

Indeed I'd love r8 or tt rs etc but we don't grow money on trees like you northerners seem to ;-)

I think the 312 sounds pretty easy if I can use standard callipers etc? Right better start looking! Thanks for all the replies guys!

Right sorry to drag a slightly older thread up but ive been offered front and rear from a mk5 gti, would I see a benefit in fitting gti rear brakes as well? Are they any bigger than my current rear brakes?
