Hi everyone,

Had my a4 for a fair few months now, but its just started making this knocking noise from the engine bay and am unsure what it is.

Basically it comes and goes and it will only do it while idling or when pulling away. It does not make the noise while driving.
It also does not go away if the clutch is engaged, it will still make the noise.
It drives normally as she always has and theres no loss of power or overheating issues.

Its always juddered a bit more than any other car ive owned while idling but its never been an issue.

Does anyone know what it could be?
Many Thanks

If the DMF is on the way out & knocking dipping the clutch normally stops it so it could be dodgy engine mount/stabilizer.
Should have a fault code logged in the ECU if it is.

Thanks for your reply, ill see if my brother can hook up the diagnostics later and see if it reads anything.

I think the knocking goes if you rev it from idle too. Unsure if that helps in identifying the issue.

Cheers.
