1.8t oil Opinions please

Hi guys.

I have a 1.8t 190 avant with bex engine running standard and was just wondering what oil is generally used by forum users with this particular engine.

5W30 Fully Synthetic.

I learned that here. I have no idea of the reasons behind it. But apparently it's important to never ever let your 1.8T even see some semi-synthetic through a shop window. It will die.

If you drive hard go 5w40
castrol edge fst fully synthetic in mine and is perfect
change every6 months oil and filter

Castrol Edge fully synthetic every time ... 3 month intervals big filter ... Never long life they hate it !

I'm just about to do a service and then was wondering which oil to use on my 190 with 140k on the clock.

I don't drive it hard well not very often anyway. Kids are always in the car :-(

if you drive the car normally then stick with the manufacturer reccomended spec which is 5w30 fully synthetic
what brand is really upto yourself i use the fuch titan personally and its been superb

if you drive hard or use the car for any type of track event then go to 5w40 this raises the upper limit on the oil temperature
so when cycling from hot and cold the oil will not break down as quickly

Thanks chaps. Have been using 5w 40 but just wanted to know the general consensus. Guess ill stick with it
