hi all just a little question really probably covered elsewhere but ive had a look and no luck. recently got an a3 1.8t and on the way back of the 150mile trip 120 odd of that motorway most i got was 29mpg is that good bad ok? i thought it may off got into the 30s but it seemed to go up maybe .1 every half an hour and max was 29.4 on the motorway just wondered if i should be getting a nice little bit more or if its about right it was bog standard then apart from a baileys engineering valve. now has cone filter added and i get 29 odd around town. going to be servicing it in the next few weeks.thanks

sounds a little low to me mate, I used to see 27mpg on a dailly comute giving it a fair bit of throttle, and 36-38mpg quite easily on a long run cruising.

I'd start by checking all the vacuum lines and PCV system under the inlet manifold.

My mpg dropped like a stone after a split PCV hose. 26mpg on the way to get it fixed then 34mpg on the way back home.

What speed is 'on the motorway' That's probably not bad if you were cruising at 95, but it's ****e if you were doing 55. My last tank in the Scirocco worked out at 35mpg (basically an AGU engine) and that involved a lot of town driving and loud pedal use as well as one or 2 motorway runs. Not really comparable but it gives some idea I guess, haha.

cruising 90mph or so for 20miles then the other 100 odd 75max with hardly any throttle but just enough to keep it at a settled pace. ok mate il try and learn all about this engine to have a look lol

Mine, when sitting at a steady 80 will sit at 35-40, that's holding the throttle steady. I have seen 40-45 when feathering

All possitive crankcase ventilation does is pull vapour out the crank case when its running so it doesn't condense when the engines turned off making ur oil keep its lube for longer and keeping ur engine sweet for longer lol. I was just told that about the pvc so that wouldn't affect my mpg would it?
