Hi just Sussex out I'm getting 36 tut gallon! Not bad really.....
S3 or A3?
It's about right for an A3.
It's great for an S3.
Just an a3 unfortunately reckon I could of got more aswell!
Pointless thread is pointless.
Not really considering its a 15 year old car returning good mpg, unless I'm missing something ?
Believe it or not mate some of us have seen over 40mpg from a 1.8T on a decent run!
my old 230bhp daily driver averaged 39mpg on a trip to the Ring a few years back, and my 350bhp track car still averages 35mpg cruising to or from a trackday!
Fantastically efficient engines the 1.8T's when tuned well
I do a 235mile trip to get home from camp, and it costs about £42 in petrol, that's with 4/5 lads in the car and a boot full of kit, i also have a heavy foot so I reckon that's decent enough (got an a3T)
I can quite easily get 45mpg on a run in my 245bhp A3.
Yeah I reckon I could get 40+ on a run, can't fault it. Once I've satisfied myself all Is well with the engine ill get a remap done
Get it done by Niki at R Tech or Bill at Badger 5; timing advance = more efficiency which = more MPG.
Im averaging 37 all the time and thats all short journeys 7 miles usually twice a day and then a 22 mile round trip to the nearest town when I need something.
A6 1.8T remapped to 220 HP ....got 43mpg on my 30mile trip home from work friday very happy with that
wow I only avg. 25 mpg with my s3.
Average of 29mpg at the minute in my S3 mainly motorway miles I am fairly happy with that!
Me too. ~25-26mpg, mixture of very short journeys and longer motorway missions. I'm sure it'd go down if I was driving like a grandad or did longer journeys. I don't know how people are reporting 40+mpg. Nobody I know with a 1.8T of any sort is getting that :/
I do stick it in 5th as soon as i hit 30mph, i drive like a grandad most of the time as i do 60 miles a day to work and back, my foot only turns to lead when im bored or a nipper thinks he can push me around
I'm genuinely interested in how people get these figures! I never got 40+ on my A3 TQS, nowhere near that with my S3. Other mates with Mk4 Golfs, A3 1.8Ts and even a NA 1.8 A3 aren't getting that.
200kg's more, transmission losses. All adds up.
Every FWD 1.8t I have ever driven easily manages 35mpg+, and as they get tuned they can get even better.
Mine is 245bhp, 40mpg on a run no problem.
28.5 in the S3 atm. A4 fwd 1.8t i used to get 38+ but thats on longer journeys when i worked further away. S3 is all town driving.
22mpg average for me. 520bhp rs4 though, pretty reasonable considering s3's around 25mpg
Sort that silly Avatar out then dude ;-)
