£1200 budget for cheap motor

Hi,
A friend of mine has just had his punto give up and has a budget of £1200 to replace it. I have been having a look around and have seen a skoda felicia with 29k on the clock for £795 which seem reasonable (look like and old person has owned it). Can anyone suggest any other motors that will be coming in withing that price range, he commutes 80 miles a day so they have to be reliable.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If it has that low mileage, suddenly doing 80 miles a day may not be best for it.
Have a look for a Polo sdi .not the quickest of things but very good on fuel.
I picked up a MK4 Golf tdi for 900 not long back ,high miles but is reliable. Passat tdi`s are cheap enough too. A4/6 can be had for that money too if you look around

He only been driving one year so the polo SDI could be a gread shout...or any sdi for that matter
