I am going to look at a 2006 A3 2.0 TFSI S Line Special Edition hatchback tomorrow with just over 50,000 miles on the clock. Is there anything to look out for? Are there any common faults on these engines which I should be concerned over? Any help on this engine/model would be great as it would...
My car is a 55 plate (facelift) which has just hit 50k
I got it scanned at a garage will it say what software they used on the report sheet or is it worth ringing them up?
I have had my A3 1.6 FSI for nearly 6 months now and had quite a few problems, the main ones being a rattle on start up and the engine going in to limp mode whilst driving and the EPC light appears (which has only happened two times in 6 months and starts up fine again with no problems) but...
I haven't been pulled for them yet so I'm unsure as I bought the car with the tints on, but when I give the windows a clean and in day light they are very light and don't even look tinted, so I am not sure

I managed to do my fronts today, I did try and get some high temp lacquer but had no luck with my local shops so I shall see how it goes without the lacquer
:o.k:
Hi
I used high temp paint but did not use high temp laquer, does it matter that much? I'm doing my fronts today so might get the laquer if its that important
The jack and stands are part of the halfords 5 piece lifting kit, which has been on sale at £35 :)
Aaron
The jacking place I used are where the springs are located, there is a round whole under there which is perfect for jacking the car
there is no brick? The jack was placed there from when I lowered the car on to the axle stands I just didn't move it away as it was there for when I needed to...
Did mine today, red calipers on my Akoya Silver A3
Still have the fronts to do tomorrow but I chose red also to match my red and black leathers
"Rattle of death" doesn't sound very good. So you're car has had a chain and tensioner replacement but the noise is still there? I don't think mine has lasted more than say 5 seconds, it's just embarrassing and worrying if it's something to do with the chain I don't want it to get worse...
So I bought this car around 5 months ago and started to notice this noise about a month after, it sounds like the car is a diesel when in fact it's a 1.6 FSI petrol
It is a 55 plate and has 50,000 miles on the clock with a FSH, with the last service done when I first bought the car 5 months ago...
Got myself a Bosch S3 today and all is good so charging my phone did actually kill my battery! It must of been on its way out if it only took a half hour phone charge to kill it.
Cheers for all the help
Well, I bought a battery from a scrap yard for £15 the other day for my MK4 and it has been working perfectly so I have just switched battery's from the MK4 to the Audi, started first time but it would because it's a full battery, took it around the block for 20 mins and it was fine, stopped for...
The battery is on charge at the moment I thought I would give it a proper charge for a few hours, but are you saying that a blown fuse could be causing this?
Aaron
I blame the sh*t iPhone battery's, then I wouldn't be in this situation
im I'm Birmingham mate?
i will give the battery a charge for a few hours then if it don't start tomorrow then I will get a battery test but I'm just really clueless to what the problem could be
It may of been 14.6v it was about 4 o'clock so I'm not quite sure. I have removed the cigarette lighter fuse and the actual cigarette lighter unit and the battery is still dying. I can't see how any of this has happened from changing my bearings and charging my phone?
There are no other lights...
Yesterday I changed my rear wheel bearings and had to charge my phone via the cigarette lighter (which is a bit faulty as you have to niggle it around for it to charge)
I only charged it for around 30-40 minutes and when I finished the job the car wouldn't start so I jumped it and all was good...
