    Unless someone has had the shaft replaced then it's most likely the 77mm shaft. I would replace it regardless for piece of mind.

    When I had Safe on the dash of my C6 it was component protection. Need a full scan of the car to see if the gearbox ECU has CP.

    An MMI unit from a C7 won't work , they use a higher speed can-bus system and are incompatible with the C6. You need converted A8 unit or a Q7 unit. This was my old unit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165218475543?hash=item2677c9de17:g:EsoAAOSwRwFfgh1Z I know the seller and it works in a C6.

    I'll send you the link to my old unit later today. I know that works and it's been unlocked by odis and it's 100% not stolen. Should be just about plug and play - a few green screen settings.

    Only certain A8 units will accept the change in MU, later ones don't work. what they are I cannot remember, just to long ago. However I do know of a unit for sale, that will be plug and play as it was my old unit. I sold it years ago, and is now being sold on by the last buyer.

    They don't get used very much so end up getting full of crud only real way of fixing it is to remove the door card and try and clean & grease the mechanism. Quick way to solve the problem is to pull or push the window up square while some operates the switch, just watch you fingers....

    If you get plug & play loom then the Audi version is simple enough, I've seen people use the none OEM antenna and you can buy the modules cheap enough these days.

    Yes the pinout is different between the Bose AMP's, so you would need to fit a new plug. I got all the pinouts from elsawin or you can download them from Audi's erwin web site. If the screen is black then you have a wiring issue. Can you communicate to the 5F unit with your diagnostic software?

    One of the big issue is finding a friendly dealer or garage that will remove component protection so you will need access to ODIS.
