Run a live from your battery to the fan! If it dunt work it's yeh fan that's knacked if it does then it's yeh thermostat.

:yes: Sorted the central locking problem! but only after I realised that the fog lights & N° plate lights weren't working either!!! Supply cable must have got trapped in the boot hinge at some time resulting in 3 cut cables-re-soldered and all's working!! Thanks for all your help.:whistle2:

Try wriggling the wire harness on the left which goes from the car to the foot lid and watching the boot light at the same time!Might be a broken wire here!

It might be the maf but doubt it because of the age!tends to be more recent vehicles 98 onwards that have problems. Had a 1993 100tdi that went on to over 400K and never had to look at the maf.Different concept actually in the air filter that is not effected the same by the egr valve sooty gases!!!

Could be switch! Copper contacts oxidize no longer making electric connection-Try repeatedly turning blower knob switch from right to left to clean contacts-Sometimes works!If not take in bits and clean with emery clothe.

Cheers Simon! A good "Top Tip" check it works before putting door panel back on! I did do just that! but what a ba*terd of a job!!!!!! All sorted now,door opens,closes,locks and more to the point the sensor now works and does its job,headlights alarm,courtesy lights work etc...

Yeh! Thought about that, can then close the window with the remote afterwards!!Sorted! Keep the wife in shape too! Managed to get the door open again after much hassle,and will take the whole lot in bits again today!

oh pooooooo! Took the door mechanism in bits as per link, but not fully like your man did as there is no need wasn't corroded but cleaned all contacts all the same,headlights on door alarm started working again after 2nd clean, so well chuffed put everything back together (including door panel)...
