This has been considered many times before by any people. After investigation it's prohibitively expensive & as already been said - much cheaper to just buy a quattro. I'm not sure anyone has actually gone through with the conversion (maybe 1 or 2)
I looked into this on 2.5tdi & read about consequential issues caused due to the harshness of the smf . So I stuck with the dmf (never changed it & still have same judder 5 yrs on)
My 03 2.5tdi still goes strong despite a lumpy dmf (5 years now). Unfortunately the mrs has hit numerous lamp posts & other static objects (including 2 x parked cars last week - writing them off) so there isn't a straight panel on the poor old gal. I've got my eye on a mint 06 2.0tfsi which (mrs...
I did get this done. Cost me about £140 at a van camper conveyor. Was well worth doing. My car is on it's final death bed. Runs fine & lumpy as it ever did. Just about to get a new 06 plate 2.0 tfsi s line quattro
I bought my 2.5tdi 5 years ago for 3k
Thanks to the mrs the body is completely ruined now (every panel! & I'm not repairing), so I'll be getting another in the next year- if it dies
Happily pay 1500 for one = sounds a great deal
Well i still own this car. & havent spent a penny on it since & it still roars.
problems still exist (lumpy idle - likely dmf & engine mounts) but other than that it's fine.
Unfortunately my mrs has taken to banger racing & has bumped it into lamp posts 5 times in 9 months while parking so...
Sorry I can't help. but I'll be watching this as similar problem. everyone's telling me to do the dmf. but think I may have engine mount problem too if I do. I'm tempted to give up or live with it
sadly i dont do any work - so it costs me full whack at the garage.
thats the thing - i could spend 7k on an a6 avant & still walk into a load of costs - at least with mine, if i get it done i know that it is pretty sound - the only thing i am worried about is getting the DMF done & that still...
F
I'm tempted to do the dmf & clutch for £900 & see if that sorts out my idle problems. if it does I'll get the cam belt sorted as engine & body are sound..
honest & brutal truth - thanks - i do need to be told that - I have already spent £4.5k on it having bought it for £3k nearly 4 years ago (excluding MOT, servicing, tax, fuel & insurance) - bad money after good. no one will buy it as it is - it will have to be a p/x for me to get anything for...
i woul suggest the only place you want to drive that to is the garage to get it done - otherwise you will be getting rid of it for parts or have a much bigger bill - i am in a similar boat - but with a much less valuable car. best of luck
hi all,
my standard v6 tdi with 175k idles like a wacky racer. i've had injectors tested & cylinders pressure tested. its thought that the issue is a dodgy dmf (which has been dodgy for a year). things havent got any better.. it also needs cam belt etc doing & maybe engine mounts (where i have...
Personally I'd return it to more factory look.
But, Get rid of black wheels, lose tints, maybe colour code bumper bits, lose silver on front grill / honey comb front grill & debadge
I hate selling cars. Local freebie or gum tree works best - piston heads if with mods, although loads of time wasters.
Prob cars are too old to warrant auto trader now. EBay isn't as bad as you'd think either. Gets lot of interest - just don't sell as auction. Get people out to view &...
