You would have to do a alignment after you clean it either way unless you have the wire throttle cable if you do a search on here you will find a ton of posts on throttle alignments.

Get another door off eBay or from a scrap yard save your self some money a used door would cost about 40 quid and all you would have to do is transfer all the bits off yours to the new one.
