Thanks mate, I'm not too concerned about the strength of it as its a really good fit and holds the boot on just as well as any other method; it's more the legality I'm concerned about, and whether it would pass an mot! I'll probably change it before mot time just to be sure :)

Thanks for all the help and replies! I ended up getting a stretchy boot rather than the genuine Audi one after speaking to a few people who have used them and had success. It's all done now, wasn't too difficult but did need an extra pair of hands when sliding the boot off of the fitting cone...

Great, thanks very much for that! That method would allow me to change it without taking the driveshaft off completely, is that right? Does the cv joint just come off of the driveshaft with a bit of persuasion? You don't have to undo any bolts or anything? Thanks again!

Thanks for all the answers, although the one in the link is a 0.5mm pitch whereas mine is a 1mm pitch so not sure if that would fit. I've just taken apart an old broken PlayStation and I think a couple of the screws from in there will fit! Hopefully they will :)
