B9 Returning to the fold but WLTP trying to ruin my day

I think the Alfa will be easily big enough for you. I've been on holiday with it a couple of time and the boot has taken a surprisingly large amount of stuff. Big suitcases are a no no but you can get loads of flexible bags in there. The Audi will be way more practical though and just as fast...

B9 Returning to the fold but WLTP trying to ruin my day

The boot is an OK size, but it’s a saloon so it’s never going to be anywhere like as big as an Avant. I think the new ones come with fold down seats and a third rear belt, plus another 20mm of ride height (good for speed bumps, bad for looks), so Alfa have realised these things were costing...

B9 Returning to the fold but WLTP trying to ruin my day

Just a quick update to say by B9 RS4 dream is over for the short term. You can’t factory order (due to WLTP), there are very few new cars around (those that are all are coming in at £75k on the road with options I don’t want), there are no Daytona cars that was my preferred colour, there seems...

B9 Returning to the fold but WLTP trying to ruin my day

Thanks Terminator. That’s a great point, maybe I can use it to my advantage. The wife wants a sunroof, but I guess the only other must haves are sports exhaust, dynamic ride control, comfort package, matrix headlights. Most cars come with these. Is there anything else I really should have? She’s...

B9 Returning to the fold but WLTP trying to ruin my day

Hi all, I’ve been lurking around this place for a few years but not so much recently as about 18 months ago I traded my 8V S3 for an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio. I’m still deeply in love with that car, but my wife needs a new car (I say for the wife, but it will be my car, she knows it, I know it)...

Facelift What I will miss about my Golf R...

I'm with you Jassy. MMI is really intuitive. Alfa has tried to copy it and not got close. Infotainment is a very low priority for me though, I still use Waze on my phone and stream Spotify. I barely look at the screen.

Facelift What I will miss about my Golf R...

Golf Rs are always driven like twats as well. They are magnets for **** heads and you're best off out of it. They are fast becoming my most hated car.

    S3 Overkill?

You've done the right thing getting the S3. I moved from a diesel A3 to an S3 and never regretted it. Over the 40k miles I had it I got 32 mpg that's great. The S3 is like a normal A3 just with a great engine and a few trinkets, it's a good car. As for the gearbox... S-Tronics are hateful but...

FAST ANSWERS PLEASE, fuel flap stuck - no fuel

Work out what the cord pulls. The flap is locked by a small metal bar. You need to do what the cord was trying to do before it snapped. It should be simple. Good luck

FAST ANSWERS PLEASE, fuel flap stuck - no fuel

I had this problem on an 8p, but in that car there is manual release. You have to pull a cord behind the boot trim. Check the manual.

    Tyre wear

Not sure. They were whatever was original fit in October 2014.

    Tyre wear

I got 32,000 miles off my S3's original Continentals, and they were worn very evenly front to rear. There were a lot of motorway miles in there so that may explain it.

1000 miles up in my S3

I wanted to complete my thread to say that I sold my car for £19,000. I started on pistonheads at £21k and had no interest. Reduced to £20k and put on autotrader. I was inundated with tyre kickers and scary sounding blokes who offered me a few grand under asking "CASH NOW". It was a deeply...

    Michelin Pilot Sport 4s Ordered

I've always been a fan of pilot sports, but I put a set of ps4s on my S3 when my original Contis wore out and they weren't as good as the tyres they replaced. I could easily induce wheel spin with the Michelins where that was very rare with the Continentals, and I could feel them understeer more...

    Facelift MPG S3 2017

Just sold my 40000 mile S3 and average mpg over its life (I never reset trip 1) was 32mpg. There was lots of town driving, but most was motorway. I didn't baby it either. The S3 is a really cheap car to run in my opinion.

1000 miles up in my S3

Hi all. My S3 is for sale in the classified section http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/audi-s3-sportback-64-2014-40k-miles-fash-and-5-year-warranty.310355/ It's an honest car that has not always been cleaned (if you look through my previous posts) but has always been maintained and driven with...

1000 miles up in my S3

Seats yes, but I drew the line at ceramic brakes. I'm not planning on tracking it and it was £5k too far.

1000 miles up in my S3

Thanks for all the positive replies chaps. Looking again, that pic from the front makes it look like a bit of a goggle eyed minger. This one's better.

1000 miles up in my S3

I think Jeremy has bought one, been told his was the first customer car is the UK. Realise I haven't posted a picture of the "Wolseley" front end (I know what he means).

1000 miles up in my S3

Hi all, Thought I'd update my first review thread now I'm close to selling the car. I have driven 40,000 miles in 27 months and my lasting impression is that the S3 is an excellent car. It's a superb all rounder, goes like stink, looks good and is really frugal. Most of my miles have been on...
