    A full rebuild of a 2.0TDi

There are two points are against using the stock BRE turbo: it is limited to 180 BHP and can fail if the oil isn't perfect. Granted, the stock BRD turbo is more laggy, but I was hoping to use the GTB2056VK instead of the GTB2260VK.

    A full rebuild of a 2.0TDi

Temptation. The one below is exactly like mine but 5k only gets me a 2006 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202012167157445

    A full rebuild of a 2.0TDi

You have a point and I thought on that hard. The builder is reputable. A second hand engine is a game of chance. Bottom line, it's going to be a rebuild.

The budget is €5-6 k. Not sure what quality of a B8 that will get and what engine problems will be inherited.

Replacements for 2.0 TDI 140hp (BRE)

The pump mod was already done. In this case, an injector tip broke off. Does the BRD have a DPF?

Replacements for 2.0 TDI 140hp (BRE)

Blown engine and my pride & joy is off the road. It's a 2008 Avant A4 S-Line 2.0 TDI 140bhp (B7 engine code BRE, VDS is 8E5) Good BRE engines are hard to come by these days so I am wondering if I can expand the search range to 2.5, 2.7 or 3.0 TDI engines. One clever guy on this forum did a...

1000 YOYOS DOWN THE TUBES with an unecessary head kit repair

Thanks Easy, my original suspicion was that the oil cooler was disturbed when the oil filter was replaced. The mechanic said that the filter does not connect onto the cooler. Would this be true or not? the car is a 2002 A4 TDi 130BHP

1000 YOYOS DOWN THE TUBES with an unecessary head kit repair

I specifically said that to the mechanic but he persisted that it was the hg. In the original failure there was no oil contamination in the coolant tank if that is any indication. Apparently, it is now leaking out whilst cold. I smell bs in the mechanic's story but hard to pin it down. for all I...

1000 YOYOS DOWN THE TUBES with an unecessary head kit repair

AUDI A4 1.9TDI Can anybody advise me on this, please? When my coolant mixed with the oil in the engine, the mechanic said "its the head gasket". The head was skimmed and reassembled with head kit and new timing belt kit. 1000 euros. bad enough at that. When he rebuilt it, he tells me that it...

A different slant on oil-coolant leak

Thanks Alex. I'm wondering how the mechanic can distinguish between the two. BTW it was Easter weekend so the car is still sitting at home waiting for the mechanic to pick it up. Here is the sequence of events that has me wondering if the mechanic missed the original issue: (1) The coolant...

A different slant on oil-coolant leak

AUDI A4 1.9 TDI This one comes down to No pints for a month vs No pints for a year. I originally had a coolant leak through a tear in what looks like an emergency pressure release. It is a mushroom-shaped hollow rubber knob on the passenger side of the engine. The mechanic replaced that along...
