cost you 650 from where dealer or independent and what exactly did you have replaced was it timing chain , timing cam belt, water pump etc.. if you go to my thread i have put up videos with the engine noises which may indicate stretched timing
The FSi engine has a belt for the timing between the crankshaft & one of the camshafts. The other camshaft is timed to this camshaft on the oppposite side of the engine using a chain.

Had mechanic check thru diagnostic no current codes were showing except codes that had come up in the history of the car. Car is over due a service by 5000k according to trip computer on dash so I was looking to get sparks oil air filter and and engine oil for service at 86k.

Yep belt front chain bback audirecommend timing belt change every 5 years or 75k which ever comes first hence why its changed but I don't understand that sound which disappears after 3 minutes
Because it settles had it checked warm by mechanic also normal it's the cold start loud noise coming from tensioner area has got me worried sounding like a diesel and loud injectors Ivan accept but them first 3 minutes dusnt sound normal

Mine doesn't sound normal on the initial cold start up as you can hear from the video I posted above. Need help panicking mite be damaging engine or not.
Drives and idles absoloutly fine not sluggish or misfiring responsive as normal.

Bought 2.0 fsi recently car has loud sound near belt/tensioner for the first 3 minutes then settled to just hearing the diesel sounding injectors. Car is at 86k had a timing belt replaced from audi at 56k so still has a year to gonzo replace under there recommendations.
