I doubt 8.5" wide will fit. The standard 18" rims are 7.5" ET51. Golf R and S3 saloon 19s are 8" - remember the saloon has wider arches. The 8.5" ET45 will stick out an extra 19mm. That's a lot! They also have 7mm less clearance on the inside.
