You're so useful!
I'll stop hi-jacking the thread now, but I've added an 8-ball gear knob to my watch list on ebay. Just like the one I had in the MX-5 I used to own a couple of years back, but in M12 x 1.5!
Keep at it Slepy! It's looking better than mine at the moment (which is off the road...
Random question regarding your gear stick... what's the thread diameter and pitch on an A4 B5? I've never been able to find out for certain, but you have!
I also have a mate who's obsessed with Zilla and part of me wants to stick a Zilla gear knob in my car to wind him up. :D
Analogue clock, and yes, it does keep locking itself after a while. Even if I sit there with the boot open or the driver's door open!
I've just gotten used to it as I can't even figure out where these switches are!
Wait, yours actually tells you when doors are open?
Mine doesn't. It doesn't even put the interior light on when I open the driver's door (the others work), and the boot light doesn't work either! :whistle2:
Erk. I need to do an ABS sensor soon.
VCDS is giving me an error for the left-rear. I have a new sensor ready, and tried to take the old sensor out. 9mm bolt that's rounded off and seized! I guess I'll need to remove the caliper, disc and splash guard so I can get brutal with it! Any tips...
I've come to the conclusion that I may well need a new snub mount too.
APR ones seem a decent price, except when the only place that will post them out wants £15 for the postage! AwesomeGTI, my ****. That's not very 'awesome' to me.
Any other suggestions?
Meh. I've had a busy couple of weekends and today I want to do absolutely nothing. So I'll look at it another time.
I don't use the car to commute anyway because work is all of a mile away, so I walk. :D
I got a friendly local garage to actually do the work on the wheel bearing, actually. :culpability:
Hmm, what's the worst that it would need anyway? Replacement sensor?
I now have an ABS fault, joy.
Since replacing the left rear wheel bearing, VCDS has shown a fault with the left rear wheel speed sensor. I haven't had any time to have another look at it. It's not actually affecting how the car drives, but there's an ABS warning light on the dash, which we all...
DP alert!
Never mind, sorted it after following these instructions.
I love how easy the dashboard is to take apart on the B5. That link is for a TT, on the B5 A4 all you need to do is unclip one piece of dash trim and pull the switch out! Took it apart and gave it a good spray of contact...
Well, I've got more important things to deal with right now.
Just as I pulled into my street, the car developed an interesting problem with the indicators. They just stay on solid instead of flashing. The hazards still work though!
The indicators will flash if I push the stalk veeeery gently...
I bought this car back in April, my first Audi! My previous cars have been a '97 Peugeot 306 1.9TD (running 24psi of boost for 2 years before spitting out a conrod), a 2001 Mk2 Mazda MX-5 1.8 (fun, but drove me insane too), and a 2001 Peugeot 306 2.0HDi estate (remapped).
As you can guess from...
I ended up following this guide: http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/complete-idiots-guide-to-fitting-a-boost-gauge-to-an-a4.122497/
I've plumbed the gauge into the feed from the manifold to the diverter valve.
I did have it on the FPR but it gave a huge vacuum reading when idling. It's half...
Instead of starting a new topic, I'll post in here.
I've got a 1.8TQS and I'm wondering where is best to plumb in a gauge on the engine... and then also where to put it inside the car without it looking totally gash, and also how to route the feed pipe to the gauge from the engine bay to the...
Hi!
I've actually had my B5 1.8T Quattro Sport since April, just never got round to posting about it. I bought it in South Lanarkshire and drove it back up to Aberdeen. It's a '99V with 105k on the clocks and had 103k when I got it. I only live a mile from work and walk/cycle for my commute, so...
