Seems odd. Oil has just been changed. As long as it starts and runs okay...I'm happy :-)
I haven't spent much on it since I bought it considering the miles I do in it !!
To be honest I think he implied it was on the inside !! There again I have no idea where it fits etc but he said he removed it, cleaned it, then put it back.
HTH
Could be...yet I never had any starting problems prior to this. I've no idea where it came from as it was nothing I did !!
It's still starting okay and I can tell it's better, as before when it did start it used to run rough as the revs rose between approx 800 to 1200 rpm, but it's okay now :-)...
Hi All, thanks for all the replies. Here's an update for reference.
Before I invested in any replacement components I took it to a local garage for them to assess.
They found that the glow plugs were not working, but replacing them did not cure the starting problem so they looked at the camshaft...
Could it be that the the output to the ECU has failed ? And the temp gauge ouput is okay?
Is there a temporary bodge I can do to get it started in the meantime as I doubt Audi will have one in stock and I need the car for work.
Thanks for the replies :-)
Hi All,
For a while my Audi A4 B6 1.9 Tdi (2003 with 167k miles) has had an intermittent starting problem. When starting from cold it will start for a split second, the revs reach between 600 and 1200 rpm before stalling. Usually it needs many attempts before it will 'catch' and start, although...
Having looked into this, manufacturers put them on cars with near vertical rear screens because on these cars the airflow over the rear window is lower thus reducing the clearing effect. On salooons they are often considered a cosmetic disaster, however some manufacturers still fit them.
My...
As my car is a saloon it does not have a rear wash-wipe which is something I miss a lot especially on motorways.
Would any of the products mentioned help to keep the rear screen clear ?
Or could I retro-fit a rear wash-wipe? I saw one recently on a late Skoda.
Hi All,
I've had my a4 1.9 TDi 2003 for a fortnight now and as soon as I got it, I replaced the cambelt, cambelt tensioner, idler pulley, water pump and auxiliary belt. I followed the SKF video to the letter and the job went very well. I also carried out an engine service. All the pulleys...
That's a good price for a towbar .
Is it essential to have a dedicated electrics kit at £137 or will a basic electrics kit at £9 do the job?
Would both options need to be coded into the cars electrical system? VCDS needed perhaps?
I wouldn't be bothered about having a warning light on the dash...
I've just been thinking some more about it.
I've just lined up the old cambelt to the tool side by side and this time the ribs are in alignment. Last time I tried to make the ribbed side of the belt fit the inside the curved face of the tool.
It must be a bad casting of the tool because 1) the...
Hi All,
I've made a start on changing my cambelt but I've hit a problem. All the parts were obtained before starting.e. locking kit, belt, tensioner, water pump etc.
The locking kit that I got is a Laser 3978 for PD engines, my A4 is a 2003 with an AVF engine. The camshaft pulley locking pin...
I clicked on the compatibility tab on the link I posted but it does not cover my car year ( 2003) and model (A4) with a non Bose rear amplified.
So I assume it is unsuitable.
I did find this one from the same vendor as in your link. It looks like the right one. It would have to be the more...
I was thinking of getting a 'semi-useful' code reader though I know nothing about them. At some point in the near future I was going to search the forum for information to see which one is a good compromise between cost and usefulness !! At this time I can't stretch to £350 odd quid for an all...
Thanks everyone, I've ordered an SKF from europarts.
Some forum members suggest getting the torsion value checked on VCDS after fitting the new cambelt yet the SKF video does not mention this.
Is it necessary?
