Traffic Lights !!! Why why why !!

A car is no less lethal than a lorry in the hands of a muppet who is not paying due care and attention. A lorry might be heavier but the ensuing carnage for following and approaching traffic would be the same no matter what sort of vehicle is not fully in someone's control.

    EGR Valve

Post in the VCDS section for someone local to do a full scan. The sooner you get VCDS on it the better. Remember the glow plug lights flashing generally indicate a problem - could be anything from injectors to turbo having a hiccup. Common issues are exhaust gas temp sensor etc. Most of these...

    That would make it a B7 not a B8?

    EGR Valve

Thinking about it some more - and this depends on your engine but where you saw smoke coming from in the engine bay is probably where your DPF is. Mine is certainly there but I have a CAGA engine. It's likely to the left of the Engine block lower down and behind the exhaust manifold. If you peer...

    EGR Valve

Hi rscrambler, How old is the car and what mileage is on it? Engine size and BHP/PS? Manual or Auto? Without those details it's hard to compare with other owners MPG. I get 44 - 47 mpg combined on 2.0 140hp/143ps FWD Manual box. That's not great compared to official fantasy figures given by...

    I take it back ;-)

    £300 to spend at Audi

I'd go with the 2 service service plan for £299. You got one oil change and one major service for that. Only any good if your new Avant is a 2.0 and no older than 5 years. They might withdraw that offer at some point and it'll be 450 for both services again.

VW Passat Dipstick that fits the A4 B8 2.0 TDI

Excellent Zafi. Now I just need to work out a DIY for cutting a hole with resealable closure for my engine cover so I can leave the dipstick in place without having to pull off my engine cover and the plastic tube cap each time I wan't to check the oil.

    A4 avant question x2

If that's 'all in' it's cheap! That'll be just the activation for the rights to use the new maps. If you go back at a later date the cost will be the activation and the service time to install the new map data and activate over Geko. That takes ages.

    Oil sensor faulty

Did a bit of digging and it seems the dipstick tube is shorter than normal and is under the engine cover. Older TDI before 2010 have a hole in the engine cover and a longer dipstick tube so it's easy to buy a compatible stick and leve it fitted permanently. Less than a tenner from the dealer...

    A4 B8 Auto wiper sensitivity

I could be wrong but that's the coding for the chassis mentioned by NHN and sets the baseline for the sensor based on the thickness of the windscreen, glass density, opacity etc. Specific to the A4. The correction will be set to eliminate false readings. Now the question is what direction is the...

    Rumbling sound.

Glad it's sorted mate. You didn't buy a lemon but you are driving a nice car on some of the worst roads in Europe, your wheels get a right battering these days.

Dab radio and charging phone interference

Sorry, i go overboard sometimes. This sort of problem is difficult to chase down. Anything is possible really. The phone will usually pull as much current as it needs. What usually happens with car chargers is they have an overcharge sense wire or that measures the volts at the device end of the...

Dab radio and charging phone interference

Unlikely to be a wiring fault per se. More likely an overall design weakness giving unfavourable interaction between the Audi DAB antenna design and standard car charger design. I'm thinking rather than the charger outputting EMI or RF and actively interfering with the DAB signal or even...

    Oil sensor faulty

Brilliant isn't it. Electronic only. I keep reading that folk don't trust it and now I know why! I don't like the principle at all for a lot of reasons. We were all told for years to measure the oil cold - basic sound engineering principle - find out how much is actually in there. Not anymore...

Help needed : Navigation data is blocked ?

Sorry, I was meaning the cost of paying for the time it takes to copy 32 Gigs of data over on the dealers hourly rate! For 3G HDD Nav Plus you don't get a disc. You only get the authorisation in a DVD case for £199. The dealer uses their own SD Card to copy the map data over - it takes hours...

    Telephone? Bluetooth? Confused..

OK, the intention of my previous post was to offer a general idea of what to look for but I have since found the correct image of the CAN based module, so without further ado or added MOST: For general identification of the 54-Pin connector and Fakra Bluetooth Antenna Telephone transmitter...
