Hi Peter,
Sounds like a faulty sensor.
My roof was driving me mad and despite replacing the motor, the control module and a position sensor I still couldn't get it to work. In the end I took it to Cayman Auto Services in Redhill Surrey (just off the M25) and within an hour they'd diagnosed the...
Thanks for the feedback, it's good to hear that your temperature is back to normal.
I've got exactly the same problem re the temperature and am currently waiting for a local mobile mechanic to schedule a thermostat, coolant and drive belt change.
All sorted and now working perfectly following a visit to Cayman Auto Services of Redhill, Surrey. I have seldom experienced such friendly, efficient and above all professional service. Highly recommended.
Can anyone advise me where the roof control module (8H0959255A or B) is located please?
VCDS is giving a message 'unable to communicate with control module' and I am currently unable to remove any error codes.
Well, the fuel supply problem has finally been solved and in the process I have learned a very valuable lesson that I will pass on for everyone to share.
After fitting the second-hand fuel pump control module to no effect, I decided that the problem must be the in-tank lift pump so I ordered...
Last week my 2.0 Tfsi engine cut out suddenly (fortunately while driving slowly on a side street), would not restart and I had to have the car recovered on a low-loader.
I did a scan with VCDS (I'm new to it so I'm still nervously feeling my way) and two engine faults were listed:
1) 012425 -...
And just when I thought everything was working well the damned thing has started to act up again!
Not long after I bought my 2008 Cabrio back in 2012, I had the common 'roof opening half an inch then stopping' problem which I 'solved' with the help of this forum by cleaning the roof motor...
Although I bought my 2008 cabrio second hand with only 20,000 miles on the clock in November 2012, it wasn't until December 2020 that I first heard of the dreaded cam follower wear problem.
When I researched the problem on the Internet I found a detailed write up of how to fit a new follower...
I cleaned and eased the brushes in my motor three times so I think I'm safe saying that it is definitely a temporary fix.
Since I replaced the bushes and holders in 2017 I have had no further problems with the roof operation despite having given it a lot of use, so my recommendation would be to...
I hadn't realised that you were in Germany, Roland, and I also wasn't aware that Vagpro's kits are not available in your country (there must be a good reason) but I'd like to help you if possible.
I don't know how this site works regarding private messages between members and it's never a good...
Great news, mate! I'm pleased you got it sorted in the end.
I bought the kit on eBay; here's a link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A4-B6-B7-Cabriolet-Hydraulic-Roof-Motor-Refurbishment-Repair-Kit-8H0959755A/333165185536
If you look back in this thread to August 2017, you'll see my comments...
I know what you mean, Roland, as on the four occasions I've had to replace my cover there was always a clunk as the powerful magnets grabbed it. However, provided the cover position was correctly marked prior to disassembly it should be relatively easy to waggle it into position and draw it back...
Just a quick post to update you on developments re my cabrio's 'nearside main beam' warning message.
Luckily, as the main beam was still working, I delayed rushing into doing anything. When I started the engine in the garage yesterday, I noticed that the N/S daylight running light wasn't...
No. I called at our local VAG specialist this afternoon and they said a bulb is £150 and there will be 30 min labour charge, total inc VAT = £220. ****** hell! They said that cheaper bulbs are available for about £45 but they have known one to catch fire so recommend the genuine article.
A mate...
After a short trip this morning I parked for half an hour and when I switched on the ignition again I got the message that the nearside headlamp (Xenon) main beam was faulty. Problem is, I can find nothing wrong with it but the fault message keeps returning every time I switch the ignition off...
I agree with David, sounds like stuck brushes in the motor. It's a straightforward job to fix and although you can do a temporary repair, the problem will return. My advice is to do what I did and replace the brushes and guides with a VagPro kit. End of problems. (See link in above post)
Hope...
Roof Fix Update
In August 2017, after much intermittent trouble with my roof, I purchased one of VagPro's brush and holder kits off eBay.
I know I'm tempting fate in writing this (edge of desk currently being gripped firmly) but after a great deal of use throughout the year, especially during...
Well, I think I can now answer my own queries.
Instead of welding a nut to a bar to make the spindle extractor, my mate drilled and tapped a hole for the bolt and turned down the end of the bolt to remove the thread on his lathe. The spindle came out without too much difficulty.
Removing the...
Hi Khurrum,
My repair kit arrived this morning, thank you, and I have just removed the motor ready to take it over to a mate who has offered to help me with making a press to remove the spindle.
When I removed the motor, I lost some hydraulic fluid from the pump chamber, not a lot but it has...
I bought my cabrio second hand in 2012 with fewer than 20,000 miles on the clock. Since than I've only added another 30,000 miles but today I've had to do my third strip, clean and loosen routine just to get the damned roof to close. Once again, the brushes were sticking in their slots.
I find...
