    Haldex Quattro system

And meanwhile, BorgWarner has Acquired Haldex (2010). I am hoping the Americans are at it. Audi is the fat cat here, which is dangerous in an ever changing competitive world. Same thing with Audi small 4 wheeled (rear biased) hybrids - where are they?

    Haldex Quattro system

I believe, for a good reason ;) Say it would be a commercial/add for BMW -X-drive, I figure BMW would mention in it the first sentence, because they can (and not lying). Audi want to sound like they have it, but that's obviously only marketing, and actually close to lying (which is a bad thing...

    Haldex Quattro system

Its a fun car in snowy and icy conditions at least, not understeering (so much) :)

    Haldex Quattro system

As I said, is all about sales, and the competition is now fierce, but we'll see :)

    Haldex Quattro system

With all do respect, I don't think you are quite right here, but in the end it is of course all about sale figures. Considering Ford and BMW now both has rear wheel bias four wheel drive in small cars, and A3 being an important "sporty" model in Audi's line up, I suspect Audi perhaps already...

    Haldex Quattro system

So at least one front wheel can go faster, not so bad? ;) But when will we see rear wheel bias on the A3? I think fairly quick, considering the competition from Ford etc.

    Haldex Quattro system

Actually, correct me if I am wrong, it can use the breaks as a cheap differential. So the system can, at least theoretically, apply breaks on front wheels, hence the rear wheels can go faster faster, right?

    Haldex Quattro system

And its not possible to drift :sadlike: unless driving in snow

    Haldex Quattro system

I guess they have to, in order to compete (or similar spec Haldex) . It is just a matter of when (when sales plummets?). Good for us. I definitely would switch my car.

    Haldex Quattro system

Ford RS apparently have a very nice 4 wheel system with rear wheel bias and as far as I know it is a Haldex. As far as I know, the RS have the motor in the same direction as in the A3 - hence my question, when can we expect to see this apparently brand new Haldex system in the Audi A3? It is...

Yes please (if that's what they called in proper English) :)

I may remember wrong, but think its stays on, when once flicked and released (no hands/fingers)? It is pretty dramatic and abrupt anyway :) And it is nothing like the elegant and smooth (at a rate of your choice) deacceleration with a manual handbrake. ;)

The manual handbrake is for me mainly to be used for changing direction of the car from a near standstill, very handy, compared to the laborious process of reversing and steering several times in order to go the other direction. :)

Pretty dangerous stuff it seems, the EPB shouldn't be allowed! ;)

    Its winter - and I miss ..

The A3/S3 is aimed for the sporty youngster or young middle aged, according to the typical commercial. Then, in reality, usually older people buy (them new), because they can afford it. ;) I am not so young either, but this isn't a black and white thing. I am not talking about driving like Niki...

Well, in my opinion, the optimal would be if every buyer could chose for themselves, when buying the car. :)

Naa, can't get a auxiliary diesel heater in 1 series, but you can in A3 (thank you Audi)(apart from S3) :) I like my A3, and its reasonable fun too, but there are some design flaws. ;)

    Its winter - and I miss ..

Getting the rear out in snow is easy, and fun in every corner (and you need not a S3 for that, but you do need quattro). But at low speed, or from standing still to make the car turn around is own axis still being in control, for that you need manual handbrakes. BMW stick with the manual for...

    Its winter - and I miss ..

I can understand the lack of interest in manual handbrakes in´case one live in places that rarely see snow and ice (and unless one like to drive rally). But fairly large portion of the Audi buyers still do live and drive in rougher climates. And the handbrake is both useful and fun as soon as...

.. a manual handbrake massively. How in earth could Audi make such a mistake removing them in 8V? For instance BMW hasn't. Anyone knows if its possible to mod the present electronic ones to only to work on the rear tires, perhaps make them partly usable for quick turns in snow?
