I personally like Goodyear asymetrics good tyre at the right price , they do have good rim protection also.Michelins are a tad superior but a fair bit dearer you get what you pay for .
It is unfortunately a trait of VAG cars I had it on a previous A3 but my R32 was thankfully ok .The only way to alleviate the symptom is to choose a tyre with a tread pattern that does not lend it's self to the sawtooth effect when worn .
After much deliberation I bought a set of racingline R360 alloys 8.5 x19 et 44 in gunmetal . TUV approved and reasonably light supposed to be lighter than the equivalent oem alloy . http://www.racingline-performance.com/r360-alloy-wheel

I have the same same colour car, it used to have a set od gunmetal RS 32 alloys which looked good ,I changed them for a set of BBs Lm reps gunmetal centre's with polished rims .IMO gunmetal colour suits Akoya silver very well.

Long time lurker but decided to join in .For what its worth I have H and R comfort [35mm] drop on my 3.2 quattro with 19's and super pro bushes and it pretty comfortable .It rides better than a standard s-line , IMO .
