Yes I reckon I'm capable of adjusting it, but how much to turn the inlet cam once the locknuts are slackened and in which direction? Do you adjust the exhaust cam as well? Any help appreciated!

Yes I used the Triple QX oil, I'd had great sucess with the slick 50 in mk2 Golf GTI's 'back in the day', I guess I've learnt the hard way that it's no good in 'our' 'boxes ! Hopefully changing it over won't have caused any issues

Changed the gearbox oil today on my 170 TDI fwd after 130k miles, maintenance really but hopefully to cure a notchy 1st-2nd gear change. I used 75 w90 fully synthetic box oil from eurocarparts with slick 50 additive which I've had good results on other cars. Went for a drive and the change up...

Personally I like my 170 tdi avant, 32-34mpg cold runs around the doors and around 44-46 mpg on a run at motorway speeds (brim to brim calculations). Tank mileage varies from 500 to around 700 so it's not as bad as people make out. My injectors were new last July and the egr and inlet manifoild...

As above, wouldn't think it's oil pump related with those symptoms. Turbo failure, egr valve, etc ?

As above really, planning on changing the 'box oil after 130k miles on my 170 tdi as preventative maintenance. Anyone done this, any hints/tips ? Thanks
