That does make sense, as the coolant level with rise because of the pressure in the system...but I don't think it's under too much pressure, I think I remember hearing it was about 2 BAR. Though I have the car serviced at Audi recently and they topped up the engine coolant to the max when it was...
Thanks for the tips guys.
SDHA4Sline - I know on some cars you can't take the EGR cooler out. I was thinking about blanking my EGR as I cleaned my EGR valve whilst looking at the EGR cooler at the weekend and noticed the difference in performance and MPG after cleaning it. Do I need to tell...
Hi Dan,
I know how you feel. I'm afraid I don't know anyone who is an expert.
One thing that might want to get checked out is the EGR cooler.
I spoke to someone at the weekend who said it can be the EGR cooler which can fail and let coolant into the inlet manifold.
I'm going to pressure test...
The oil is fine mate....just the usual black colour and no mayo looking stuff on the dip stick or cap.
I was wondering whether to use k-seal, I never really like using that sort of stuff and like to repair things properly but heard mixed reviews about it clogging up the heater core and the tiny...
Thanks for your reply mate, I was worried it could be the head....only had it for a year but probably have to think about trading it in for something else.
The only other thing I've noticed is - when I drive it hard, say rev it to 3000rpm I can see a very faint cloud of white smoke out of the...
Hi guys,
I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this for me as it's starting to drive me crazy-
I have an A4 1.9 TDI (engine code BRB) and every week I check the coolant and it's always loosing a small amount very time I check. If I fill up the expansion tank anymore than half way...
Thanks for replying. I took my car for a 20 mile run to get it nicely up to temperature. The hoses are not rock solid but slightly firm and I can squeeze them, but still a little amount of coolant comes out. No steam/white smoke out of the exhaust at all either. So hopefully nothing to do with...
Hi guys, I've recently bought a A4 1.9TDI 115hp 2008 B7.
I had it serviced about six months ago along with a new thermostat and o-ring for the j plug (I think) because it was leaking. Now had the expansion tank and cap replaced because it is just spitting out a little coolant every time I drive...
Ok, turned out I had a crack in expansion tank (next to the overflow drain). Audi very kindly replaced it and diagnosed it for free for as they did a pressure test a month ago and found the thermostat housing had a slight leak and thought they would have been able spot it at the same...
Thanks for the reassurance. I was really hoping it wouldn't be. I've ordered a new cap and also getting it pressure tested just to make sure it's nothing else.
I'll post the results tomorrow
Ah ok no worries. I used to have Xenons on my old car (Mini Cooper S) and now gone for an A4 but I just miss the nice white /blue tint light and now had horrible yellow halogens.
Sorry if this sounds a stupid question but - Would you think they are ok for dipped beams? They seem like a good to...
Hi guys, got a slight problem with my 2008 Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDi.
I've noticed it to be damp/wet directly under the expansion tank cap and dripping down to the bottom of the engine. I've lost the difference between the max and min mark in just over three months. I've heard there is a drain...
Hi Guys, I was wondering if someone could help me out here. I've just bought a 2008 1.9 TDi A4 Avant s-line. I have noticed that there is a very small leak around the thermostat housing area.
It's this metal pipe (second picture arrowed) I think which goes into where the thermostat goes...
