I had a new control unit put in by Audi and it still jerked and hesitated etc. Ended up selling the car off and getting a manual. Afterwards heard lots of issues with Audi auto boxes especially CVT unfortunately.

I've had 2 x B6 and 1 x B7 all have eaten control arms and track rods ends for some reason. As you say clunks and bangs usually are the symptoms, once changed, silence. I have my local garage check them out, usually each MOT one needs doing.

Hi Rob, What age is your B7 ? My avant is an 05 and the rear arches have started to bubble. Did hear about Audi sorting arches but only if its a stock car and FSH with that dealer? Curious as I have a friend with a body shop but obviously don't want to pay if I don't have to.

Might be worth it on the rear arch? what about if its a non standard car e.g lowered?

Using Lucas aero wipers, cant knock them no squeaks etc as I've had from previous low price versions.

Hi Mate, Yeah I did, two new top mounts and two new track rod ends (then tracked up) No more knocking even though the parts didnt look worn its fixed it. Got all the parts from ECP.

I think my noise seem mainly drivers side I'll let you know when I've done the rod ends and see whats next ...
