Had a similar issue with my 02 1.9 tdi air con not working. Turned out to be the clutch housing of the front of the air compressor pulley had come loose, found it on the engine under tray. Bolted back on with some loctite and hey presto back to normal.

Had a similar problem on my 02 1.9 - hard brake pedal and no power, turned out the vac servo had failed due to corrosion. Replaced it and all good.

Hi Trups, Sorry should have mentioned that, I presume it hasn't as there is no footwell or puddle lights fitted. It's a saloon as well it that makes any difference. Thanks Leigh
