Maybe something completely different but I had exactly the same fault on my old 55 plate a3, (swapped bulb, checked fuses etc), then someone told me to disconnect the battery for 15 minster, did this and hey presto, it worked, might be worth a try.
Mmm. Interesting that as mine doesnt have one and just assumed it had been taken off by previous owner, although my previous car (fsi non turbo) did have one.
Sorry, no sympathy for him, glad your all ok but it could be different next time where he could seriously injure or kill someone, accidents happen but driving unroadworthy cars just hightens the risk of someone being injured.
You can use an extension, think what chinnyhill means is you not supposed to use any other power source such as an inverter thats powered from the car, that woukd cause a ground loop.
Lol i never fill the tank, stuff carrying all that extra weight around, im a tight ****, £40.00 increments for me and i get around 200 miles out of it, shell v power btw.
Hi all got a bit of a query . Replaced cam position sensor at weekend, got the part from tps, and heres the problem, when engine is upto temp (90) and change up a gear usually from 2nd to 3rd im hearing a pinking sound this only happens if driving on any sort of incline and only lasts for about...
Finally had time to try it this morning, run car upto temp, disconnected engine temp sensor, started 1st time 7 out of 10 times (same as before) so looks like a new starter needed. Thanks for your advise.
