Well, after being fine since the pressure sensor was changed, today the A4 did the old limp mode thing again. Really thought we had it cracked but seems not, went to pull away and no boost then limp mode. After turning off and on again the limp mode went away but car was still very stilted on...
I would just keep an eye on the level of the coolant first off to be sure. As Av4nt said - exhaust vapour can be quite visible in the cold weather, especially so if the engine is cold too.
170 Quattro B7 A4 avant, just shy of 97K on the clock and we get 400-450 miles from a full tank of v-power (always v-power). This is with a fairly spirited driving style when conditions allow on a daily mixture of everything from country B roads to motorways to city traffic.
Well I topped up the screen wash today and found a wire going to a grommet on the top of the washer bottle. Would this be for the level sensor as I can't imagine what else it is for?
Hmmm thanks guys. I would have expected it to have one tbh but perhaps not then? The car has some form of DIS but not the full thing maybe as it only provides basic stuff.
Think I will have a look behind the wheel arch and will let you know if I find anything.
It was about 50 for the part plus fitting I think. If the problem persists after restarting then possibly not the same fault though. Hopefully the pipe is just split and should be a very easy fix. Our golf GTTDI had a similar problem but it was the retaining clips that hold the pipe in place -...

Update - still not got round to doing the egr but on a recent trip up the M1 the car went in to limp mode. Switched off and back on and all was back to normal so finished the journey. Got a scan of the ecu a few days later and found the following fault code:
00065 - boost pressure regulation...
