Any ideas folks, 2004 A3 2.0 TDI BKD Auto - red lining between 3rd and 4th - ok in other gears and fine with the paddles, sometimes works ok but most times now its going to the edge before changing, which in that gear is fairly motoring lol!! Gearbox oil and filter changed 20k ago.

Hi All, Can anyone please tell us the location of the thermostat location and how to change it, is it awkward??? Running lowish temp and no heat from heater.

How reliable is the vacuum control unit and is it likely to fail and cause limping, as all my vac pipes have been changed and all the seals on the intercooler pipework? Turbo is away getting inspected/serviced, but if it limps on return im at a loss TBH, ideas anyone??

Cheers, Ive had overboost and underboost codes which I was told depends on where the vanes are sticking, just with so little miles its hard to imagine its clogged up already!!

FYI I have been losing coolant for a while now, all the usual BKD signs and tried all sorts from K seal to Steel Seal, all failed miserably, however Blue Devil has done the trick, just one bottle, no probs so far, heating and cooling spot on, no coolant loss, no excess smoke.......... jobs a...

The cooler was replaced as it was losing coolant and smoking, it was then ok for two months then started leaking again to the point its a whole header tank every 100 miles now. No residue except for appears to be something of the like around that hose that has been over pinched - im hoping that...

All the red pipes are vacuum hoses and are ok and in place, the egr cooler was changed last year and im thinking that was when the visible jubilee clip was put on and by the looks of it, over tightened. I think this is where the coolant leak is – anyone agree?

ok, im looking more at the jubilee clip on the heater matrix pipe (above EGR Cooler), possibly over pinched and possibly causing coolant loss at pressure, hence what look likes like splatter all around?????

Short of giving any clues, I am interested to see if any sharp eyed mechs can assess this pic and notice anything suspicious, I think there is but id like some clarification!! Can you explain what is going on in this pic?

What hose Chilly? Interesting, same mileage, same plate!!! Artimus - I have no starting probs, smoke, temp issues, compression and sniff tests passed, surely not head as if the amount of coolant loss (1litre over 200 miles) would give other issues and indicators????

Fob has suddenly stopped opening the car but locks, boot opens too, have to open manually but sets off alarm if you dont put key in ignition straight away!!! Any Ideas anyone??​

Tried K Seal, sometimes works for about 700 miles, sometimes it don’t work at all!!, If there was a problem with the head gasket, would that not show up on a pressure test?

pressure tests - passed, no issues gas test, passed, no contamination!!

Well my A3 TDI sport (04 BKD) has been in a gearbox and engine specialists for a week while I was away being tested because of coolant loss, passed all tests (hot, cold, gas, pressure) and apparently no issues at all!! No other symptoms at all, just coolant loss, so what the hell is going on -...

im keeping it, goes great otherwise, nice, firm and quick, just frustrating with its coolant loss and limp mode!!

If im using a half litre every 100 miles is that too much for a cracked head and seepage into block?? (No starting probs or excessive white smoke)
