    EGR - remove&blank, or clean&keep?

Keep a big rag in the car and practise taking the top of the air filter off. shove the rag into the intake pipe for for gods sake don't let go of it! done it before on a old diesel can that decided to eat its own oil during its mot. I didn't do it myself but I was moving a sales car into the...

    EGR - remove&blank, or clean&keep?

i might do. I'm hoping to get down to a scrappy and find an egr to dissect and see if I can remove the guts but leave the anti shudder in place and then see about using a blanking plate. But I'm fairly certain that the egr is as closed as it needs to be without the vac feed. next thing to try...

OOPS that F*&^%$D it! Which engines fit to replace my 1.9pd 130

I was always told if the belt went on a pd engine throw it away sadly. Aren't the injectors linked up so when the Cambelt goes it takes them with it? wouldnt a engine out of a golf/bora/Leon or maybe Octavia be ok to fit instead?

    jealousy is a *****

I went off owning a jap motor after trying to change a set of discs and pads on an old accord. you have to remove the drive shaft to do the discs for gods sake! what kind of sadistic ******* makes the drive shaft part of a brake disc change!!! althought saying that I would sell my soul for...

2.0 TDI Failing The Regenerate The DPF

Been a while since I was selling vags but I had one or two that wouldn't regenerate on the road. The mechs got them in and forced it via the computers and it cleared the problem, basically what the guys are saying above. Although watching the temperatures on the screen it was amazing how hot it...

    EGR - remove&blank, or clean&keep?

thats it! Just thought I might as well bung up both sides to make sure there's no air getting in. I suppose you could just cut the pipe and bung both ends but I wanted it totally reversable if the car had any problems. back in it this morning so if anything changes I'll post up. I think i'll...

    EGR - remove&blank, or clean&keep?

Just a little note. I just did this to our golf. 1.9tdi 115bhp version. its been suffering from boost lag which I had either pinned down to a vac leak, weak actuator or n75 valve. today I blocked the vac pipe off the egr and blanked it with a golf tee. I also did the same at the egr end with...

    1.9TDI MPG?

Can't seem to crack the 40 's in our avant. But it mainly sits in traffic so I'm not totally surprised. Our golf does 44mpg on a mixed run to work everyday which I'm happy with.

    Formula one 2013

Shame missed a chance to see fingers vs Hamilton. Would have been great to see the battle. Those tyres are dangerous! The amount of debris spraying the cars behind is just shocking. Regardless of if it was kerbs doing the damage, those kerbs are older than the tyres. what a drive from Webber...

    Drivers door has dropped

Seems vag cars in general suffer from this. Three door golf mk 4 seems the worst for it! ive been told by a Vw tech that the pikey jack method is how they normally sort it out. He said after quoting for new hinges or labour for doing it properly most opted for the pikey method. i tried it on...

    Skoda....

I used to sell skodas a few years ago and the now current superb had just come out. The fabia and roomsters were a little plasticy inside but still very well screwed together. the Octavia was awesome and the superb a quality barge. i had mainly octys as demos back then but had a old shape...

whats wrong with my s3 - been overrevved and misfiring

Porsche monitor revs for the life of the car. one of the checks they do when selling the car is to check the rpm history. so this kind of monitoring isn't new.

    What's sat nav have I?

I've seen this before in the other vag cars I've used in the past: colour info screen which shows up basic nav info: Then a funky dial and button affair mounted on the centre console: Works fine but the disc in the boot is way out of date and I wondered if I can replace it with a newer...

    EGR - remove&blank, or clean&keep?

You could just take the vac pipe off the feed to the shudder valve to see how that feels. dont forget that the anti shudder valve also could stop your engine running on if it suffered from diesel runaway. But on a well maintained at that is a very small risk

    Engine Bay Cleaning

I've seen people jet wash after laying on products like gunk but just with the engine running and being careful. with the engine running they can spot if its having issues and stop spraying to see what's what. personally I've stuck to just engine degreaser and an old sponge with a gentle wash...

    EGR - remove&blank, or clean&keep?

I thought after a certain year the ecu monitors the egr? i know our 2000 Golf doesn't as I've pulled the vac pipe on it before but our 2004 plate Golf puts the EM light up but doesn't effect the actual running of the engine. i keep meaning to try cleaning our Golf's egr out and blanking the...

Cancel dealer order and go to broker?

Totally but surely the whole point of the contract is so both the dealer and the purchaser are shown to be in agreement? just because the OP has seen it cheaper elsewhere that doesn't mean they should expect the dealer to match it. I've had family deal with brokers in the past an the level of...
