As the title says really, any specific pointers? It's the 143bhp model. I've done some searching and can't say I've come across any recurring problems or anything major.
Also it's an auto - will it be a CVT box? Any specific maintenance interval on those?
Cheers
Did you calculate this by driving till empty or fuel light came on? Was the tank completely empty when you filled a tenner? I.e. into the reserve...
Much better way to truly check this would be to fill to brim, that way you know exactly whats in the tank and working out once range shows nil.
Not the end of the world since you now have companies offering far cheaper repairs that it'd cost from dealers. There's Gearbox Nottingham as Sayam suggested or another option is Ecu Testing who i think charge £250 but provide a lifetime warranty with the repair but this involves posting the...
As Sayam said, to go beyond stage 1 you'd need a hybrid turbo... But you can get a turboback exhaust or downpipe, egr delete to reduce carbon build up and help with smoother running... But it'd be worth having a friendly MOT guy lol
Sometimes the mechatronics units can pack in without any signs, other times you'll get really jerky changes, erratic behaviour followed by the flashing PRNDS.
However there are other reasons for it to start flashing, it may be an electrical connection playing up, confusing the gearbox and...
Opinions are mostly what are offered up on forum... mine's formed on my own experience with them and having read reviews on the net. Sorry to hear your mate had problems, the turbo's on these cars are known to fail however that doesn't explain the second one blowing.
I'd agree, custom maps by...
I wouldn't recommend getting a generic map from anyone... But a reputable company like Awesome I would have no qualms with. Especially as they offer a money back policy if you'd like to revert back to stock.
Got my PD140 a generic stage 1 map from AwesomeGTi for £150.00. Car was on ~127k miles when mapped, and drove perfectly for another 4 months until I decided to sell. Definitely recommend getting it done from there!
As far as I'm concerned, it was definitely a 'proper' and a 'good' map. The...
One way is with engine running remove the dipstick, if it starts running lumpy and sound like it's going to stall, the PCV is fine.
If the engines still running smooth, its knackered.
That is low. City driving I can manage 20ish on my 05 gti (Bradford is very hilly). If I'm thrashing it then il see closer to 15mpg.
Motorway journeys I'll see 30+ mpg if it's a ~70mph run. Do you drive at a high speed?
