In case anyone else is doing this I'll update
It's a breeze. The hydraulic pipes are held in with small metal clips that simply pull out (don't drop them into the wheel arch) The most difficult bit was swapping the retaining clip for the ball joint as the replacement part had one that was a...
I'm having a freaking nightmare with my car at the moment. everything is falling apart all at once!
Anyway I have a hydraulic fluid peeing out fluid like a man with a bad prostate problem so the roof doesn't work. I have a replacement part on the way but I wondered if there is anything I should...
I have a 2002 A4 3.0 Multitronic. 90,000 on the clock
I have noise that sounds for all the world like inner CV joints. Click/clunk on acceleration and a little less obvious on braking.
I changed the inner joints (outers were changed last year and 5,000 miles ago) all for quality items and it...
I agree with the above. My roof packed up yesterday and Khurrum gave me advice over the phone.
If I'd been local I'd have been round to his in a flash but I'm not.
Turned out my problem was loose (one had fallen out) front motor mounting bolts so the front catches didn't work properly, so the...
Thanks
I wasn't really sure of the difference between HID and Cree LEDS.
Anyway it's off the table at the moment due to CEL being on.
Let's see if I can get it through its MOT without spending more than its worth on it first!
It just became a bit of a moot point as the engine light came on today and it's thrown a P0421 code.
I've reset it and we'll see how it goes! Money might be neede elsewhere
Has anyone upgraded their headlights with an LED kit?
If so which kit did you use and would you recommend it?
The lights on my 2002 A4 are shockingly bad with normal bulbs and even with night-breaker bulbs in them they are only just passable. The amount I've spent on bulbs in the last 4 years...
Indeed!
It's borderline but I've decided to have it fixed (my gearbox rebuilt) the car has only done 57,000 miles and has been cared for in an expense is no object manner for the last three years (my ownership) so the rest of it is in great condition.
I had the gearbox oil changed at the...
Not yet. It's on my list of things to do next (along with wheel alignment) but balance seems very unlikely at 20mph.
Before I take it in again I want as many ideas as possible about what it could be. I will elieminate the cheaper ones first
Thanks
Yours sounds like a bearing and a wheel balance issue
I'm pretty sure mine isn't a bearing as there is no noise and absolutley no play in any wheel.
I don't have a rumble just vibrarion/judder
Thanks
Mine isn't a noise (it's whisper quite) just a vibration/juddering.
Wheel balance seems unlikely at that speed plus the swapped wheels would have made a difference to where the vibration was felt.
I'm going to assume that this isn't a model specific problem and post it here but for the record it's a 2002 A4 3.0 V6 petrol convertible, multitronic auto.
I have a vibration that comes in at 17-18mph and goes away at 35ish but is at its worst at 20mph I can feel it through the steering wheel...
In the end I found a second hand one (for the right hand side motor which was the vital one) it was £120 though.
I'm sure that the plastic wheel could be fabricated or cast with a little bit of time and patience, unfortunately I didn't have time to try and do this.
It was fairly easy to fit...
Further to the above. I've taken it out and it does come apart. The bit that is faulty is a small ferris wheel shaped plastic wheel which is driven by a worm gear.
I don't know if any other VW/Audi motors share the same small plastic part though.
Hello
I have an A4 cabriolet (2002 B6) with electric seats but seat height adjustment on the driverâs side only. Both the front and rear height adjustment motor assemblies have failed. The motors still work (I can hear them) but they are grinding away at nothing.
I'm assuming that they have...
